Our February book study is =91Launching a Leadership Revolution=92 by =20
Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady. The book was a NYT bestseller and =20
continues to make waves in the Leadership community.

The book delineates the five levels of leadership in a concise and =20
compelling way. One must underline the words =91launching=92 and =20
=91revolution=92 because this is where the authors place the emphasis.

Pastors are seen as leaders. The question is, Are they leading? As =20
John Maxwell wrote, if noone is following, you are not leading but =20
taking a walk. Our churches are barely growing or surviving. Pastors =20
are managing more than they are leading. We justify the situation. =20
This book does not allow anyone to justify their situation. It pushes =20
the leader to evaluate where you are and what you are going to do =20
about it.

Their basic thesis is that everyone can be a leader. But to lead =20
requires a different way of thinking to get different kinds of =20
results. This is where their revolution begins. It requires a =91hunger=92 =
=20
to be different. Unfortunately, very few appear to be hungry.

This book should be read several times to grasp all they are getting =20
at. It is a reality check in the deepest sense. Their challenges may =20
initially create a sense of animosity and more justification. These =20
authors use their system engineering backgrounds and apply it to =20
leadership. They have created a system that works for everyone all the =20
time. Their community building success proves it. This makes the book =20
revolutionary.  Hopefully this book will help us all to begin to think =20
and therefore act differently.
