Hi -
I owe a correction to the 25% estimate this afternoon.
That's *roughly* the percentage (actually, it's 28%)
of congregations giving between nothing and 50 cents
per attendee per week in synod support.
Based on the data assembled by Jack Pease for presentation
to the synod council, here's a summary, in terms of average
weekly giving per attendee in our Synod's congregations.
Giving forwarded for mission support / general work of the synod,
per person per week on average by congregation:
17% of congregations (11% of total attendees) NOTHING
11% of congregations (12% of total attendees) from $0.01 to $0.50
16% of congregations (15% of attendees) $0.51 to $1.00
20% of congregations (21% of attendees) $1.01 to $2.00
This takes us just a hair past the mathematical average of
giving across our synod, covering 64% of congregations and
59% of attendees.
20% of congregations (22% of attendees) $2.01 to $3.00
11% of congregations (14% of attendees) $3.01 to $5.00
(I'd guess that this is where we get into the
range of congregations that are tithing, but I
don't have data to confirm the guess for more
than a few isolated cases)
5% of congregations (5% of attendees) $5.01 to $11.75
I hope this is enlightening.
Randy
