DIRECTOR OF MUSIC & WORSHIP LEADERSHIP

Position Overview
We are looking for a Music/Worship Leader to develop a praise band, choir a=
nd provide music for the weekly worship service. We anticipate a band of vo=
lunteer musicians and vocalists from all works of life including High Schoo=
l and College students from Schools nearby. Some of the musicians and vocal=
ists may be Church members or will become Church members because of your en=
thusiasm, spirit and interest.  The music director is responsible for leadi=
ng the praise team, including rehearsals, and managing the team composition=
 to ensure quality while providing appropriate opportunities to sing and pl=
ay. We anticipate you will create the friendly, belonging atmosphere to att=
ract music lovers! The position reports to the pastor.

Responsibilities
=95 Coordinate music selection and flow of worship with Senior Pastor.
=95 Develop & lead praise band, and play piano/electronic keyboard (clavino=
va) and/or guitar as appropriate for weekly Sunday morning services.
=95 Direct and rehearse the praise band weekly, including vocal coaching an=
d rehearsing as necessary. (We anticipate one weeknight rehearsal and brief=
 practice immediately before service on Sunday morning)
=95 Work with the Worship Planning Team and Senior Pastor to develop worshi=
p services that promote our Christian mission.
=95 Communicate worship bulletin information with office by weekly deadline=
s
=95 Identify and recruit new members for praise team as appropriate.=20

Required Skills
Bachelors degree or higher, or equivalent professional experience, in music=
 with emphasis on music performance (preferably keyboard and/or vocal) or m=
usic education; Professional level musicianship skills, experience, and tra=
ining (piano or guitar preferred.) Flexibility to handle electronic keyboar=
ds a plus. Significant experience participating in and leading ensemble pla=
yers, particularly bands, including contemporary praise bands;
Prefer candidate possess vocal skills and ability to recruit, train, coach =
and lead vocalists ranging from talented beginners to early-stage professio=
nal-track singers; Ability to do at least light arranging and composing, in=
cluding transposing chord sheets and/or piano scores; Experience with conte=
mporary Christian praise song repertoire; Ability to work collaboratively w=
ith musicians.
