Greetings to my colleagues in mission.=C2=A0=20

Much is happening within our parish.=C2=A0=20

First I would like to invite you all to come together to celebrate Jim Frie=
d rich's retirement.=C2=A0 We will be gathering at the Elephant Bar on Hami=
lton in Ca mpbell on=C2=A0Thursday, October 31st (yes,=C2=A0Reformation Day=
) at 11:45 for a shared lunch and roast, if anyone is so inclined.=20



Second, a reminder and an encouragement to =C2=A0contribute to PLTS in hono=
r of Dr. Phyllis Anderson's retirement.=C2=A0 There is a special endow ment=
 fund for seminary scholarships =C2=A0 =C2=A0or more specifically women in =
ministry scholarships.=C2=A0 Please consider a gift in her honor.=C2=A0 You=
 all should have received an invitation=C2=A0 to her retirement dinner on F=
riday, Nov. 1 at The Claremo nt Hotel in Berkeley.=C2=A0 Let me know if you=
 want to carpool.=20



Thirdly I have made arrangements with Rev. Jim Hytjen, the interim director=
 of evangelical missions for this synod to meet with our parish rostered le=
aders during the PLC in Monterey on Wednesday, Oct. 16=C2=A0from 1:00-2:00.=
=C2=A0 We will figure out a room when we ge t there.=C2=A0 In light of all =
that is happening with the Asian Ministry site in Cupertino and Pueblo=C2=
=A0De Dios, our fullness of=C2=A0 time has come for us to consider how we a=
s a parish can continue our history of identifying, developing, nurturing, =
and supporting new missions.=C2=A0 I hope you will make time to participate=
 in this conversation.=20



Finally (for the moment)=C2=A0 There is the District D gathering on Saturda=
y, Nov. 9 at Advent Lutheran in Morgan Hill beginni ng at 9:30 am.=C2=A0 Ou=
r conference will meet after lunch to continue the discussion about our dir=
ections in mission, and to elect a Dean.=C2=A0 I have offered to be nominat=
ed for a second term.=20
