Our dean received two forwarding requests with messages for the pastors of
the SCVLP.

Here they are:

1st forwarded message:

From: Pastor Jim Friedrich <pastorjim@sbcglobal.net>
Date: Apr 28, 2008 2:09 PM
Subject: Announcement
To: Bob McKee <pastor.mckee@gmail.com>

Can you send this note to the Parish mailing list in the next day or two? I
have sent letters to the retired pastors/widows that I know of since I'm not
sure how complete your list is. THANKS

Evy Wiederanders, wife of Roland, a former pastor at Zion, died on April 18
and will be remembered at a special Memorial Service at Prince of Peace,
corner of Cox and Saratoga Avenues on Monday, May 5 at 12 noon. All are
also invited to a Committal Service at the Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los
Gatos-Almaden Rd. at 10:30 a.m. Evy was a wonderful part of the
congregation's life and also an active participant in clergy/spouse
gatherings through the years.

Thanks,

2nd forwarded message:

From: Jeff Thiemann <jefft.saintmatthew@gmail.com>
Date: Apr 28, 2008 11:40 AM
Subject: Have you done it?
To: Sierra Pacific Synod Council of Deans <spselcadeans@googlegroups.com>

At our lunch together on Friday, we didn't hear about the Board of
Pension Health Risk Assessment (HRA) plan. As you probably remember,
when 75% of those covered by the ELCA BoP health plan (employee and
spouse), ALL of us will get a 2% discount on our premiums.

I wondered where we are as a Synod, and found an update (as of March)
at https://www.elcabop.org/Home/BenefitsAdmin/2_percent_progress.aspx.
The summary is that out of 65 Synods in the ELCA, we are 56th on the
list. 110 people have completed the HRA (33.2% of us), which means we
need 138 more people to complete the HRA for us to hit the 75% level.

If you are one of the 110 people that have taken the first step, thank
you and let's practice good stewardship (and leadership) and encourage
others in our conferences to do so. Where your "I took the first
step."

Are you one of those 138 people that can take the next step? Now is
the time to do it. Once you have your numbers (Height, Weight, HDL,
LDL, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Blood Sugar (Glucose), and
Blood Pressure), it takes less than 10 minutes to fill in the data at
https://www.elcabop.org/RedirectorMayo.aspx.

I've mentioned this a few times at conference gatherings and will
follow up now to see where we are. I've also followed up with each
person that is covered in our congregation. As you know, 2% of our
health care premiums is a lot of money that could be used elsewhere.
And of course, being healthier is good for all of us.

Jeff
