Minutes of April 7, 2016 "First Thursday" Gathering

Present were:
  Jim Clark-Moore, David A. Schick, Sara Pearson, Robert M. McKee,
  LaVinnia Pierson, Derek J. Engfelt, Gabriele Schroeder, John Sullivan Jr.,
  Cristina Beauchemin, Eduardo Trejo.

Visiting from the Santa Clara County Office of Supportive Housing
was Bob Dolci.

Randy Presuhn took notes.

One motion was offered.  After amendments, the motion was to
  1) name Katie Hoffman as a lay male/female under-35
     or language other than English or person of color
     voting member for the upcoming synod assembly;
  2) name Melva Mack as the voting member for the
     upcoming synod assembly from a congregation with
     fewer than 150 members
  3) to provide funding for Katie's attendance as required
     by the synod, and to provide funding for Melva's attendance
     to the extent that the needed funds are available.

The motion was approved without objection.

Other discussion of note:

Jim Clark-Moore provided and update on the Encompass Homeless Ministry.

Bob Dolci provided a detailed overview of how Santa Clara County
and the city of San Jose are responding to issues of homelessness,
and provided resource listings, and diagrams, and "Homeless
Services" pamphlets.

A "homelessness simulation" event is tentatively planned
for September 10th, the Saturday before God's Work Our Hands
Sunday.  It is intended for all age levels, open to all
congregations and their scout troops.  Jim Clark-Moore will
provide updates as things become more definite.

July 30th Brunei Braun (sp?) will be leading a multi-congregational
event.

October 15th there will be an Evangelism Conference
