The conference meeting of the Santa Clara Valley Lutheran Parish was held at 1:15 the afternoon of November 10, 2012 in conjunction with the District D gathering of the Sierra Pacific Synod at Grace Lutheran Church in Palo Alto. The following people indicated their presence on the clergy sign-in sheet: Pastors Anne, Carlson, Gwen Hermanson Schaefer, James Friedrich, Jim Clark-Moor, Joan Randall, John Sullivan, LaVinnia Pierson, and Peggy White. The following people indicated their presence on the lay sign-in sheets: Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in San Jose Randy Presuhn (visiting, male) Margaret Valliant (voting, female) Michael Flanagin (voting male) Immanuel Lutheran Church in Los Altos Dolks Daetz (voting male) Gisela Daetz (voting female) New Creation Lutheran Church in San Jose Karen Apland (voting female) Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Saratoga Amanda Nelson (visiting female) St. John Lutheran Church in Sunnyvale Linna Harnack (voting female) Conference dean Pastor Anne Carlson presided at the meeting. The nomination for the lay male slot on the Synod Council was discussed. It was moved, seconded, and approved without dissent to nominate Mark Nelson for another term. The group discussed shortcomings in how word of the District and Conference gathering was delivered to congregations, as evidenced by the sparse attendance. It was suggested to create an additional e-mail list for congregational points-of-contact to supplement SCVLP@googlegroups.com in announcing meetings. Conference secretary Randy Presuhn agreed to create such an email list. The remainder of the group's time together was spent in discussion of a possible reconfiguration of districts and conferences to avoid the current situation in which our processes result in more people being elected to attend Churchwide Assembly as voting members than there are votes allotted to our synod. Respectfully submitted by Randy Presuhn SCVLP Secretary
